Places to Cover: Cochin – Munnar – Periyar – Kumarakom – Kovalam
Day 01: Arrive Cochin
Arrive at Cochin and transfer to hotel. Enjoy the half day sightseeing tour visiting the Mattancherry Dutch Palace – (closed on Fridays and public holidays), a Jewish Synagogue – (closed on all Saturdays and Jewish Holidays)in Jew Town. Also visit St. Francis Church – (closed for visitors on Sundays from 08.00 to 11.00 hrs) the oldest European Church in India. See the Chinese Fishing Nets along the tip of Fort Cochin.
Day 02: Transfer to Munnar (153 kms/ 4 hours drive)
After breakfast, depart to Munnar by road. Arrive at Munnar and transfer to hotel. Munnar is sourounded by lush green-carpeted tea and coffee plantations and is a picturesque hill station situated in the eastern part of Kerala. The beautiful landscapes, cozy weather, and the smell of tea leaves make Munnar on of the most sought-after destinations in South India. On arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Day 03: In Munnar
After breakfast, enjoy local sightseeing of Munnar visiting Mattupetty – an artificial lake with a small hydroelectric project. Visit the munnar town and Church. Also visit Tata Tea Museum where old and new techniques of processing of tea. The evening its at leisure.
Day 04: Transfer to Periyar (124 kms/ 4 hours drive)
After breakfast, depart for Periyar ( Thekkady) by road. Arrive Periyar and transfer to hotel. Periyar is well-known for the spices grown that attracted the Europeans and a one of the most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries.
Day 05: Transfer to Kumarakom (135 kms / 4 hours drive)
Today early morning enjoy boat rides on Lake Periyar which is the best way to see the wildlife sanctuary. Return to hotel and after breakfast, depart for Kumarakom by road. Kumarakom is situated on the bank of Vembnad Lake – the backwaters for which maximum tourists visit Kerala from across the globe. Arrive Kumarakom and check-in to your resort.
Day 06: In Kumarakom
Today after breakfast the day is at leisure. Optical sun set boat cruise (at additional cost). You may enjoy the facilities offered by your resort such as ayurvedic massages (on direct payment).
Day 07: Transfer to Kovalam (175 kms/5 hours drive)
After breakfast, depart for Kovalam by road. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Kovalam Beach lies stretched out on the Malabar Coast, along the schorelie of a small town called Kovalam. Rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy on the beach.
Day 08: In Kovalam – Excursion to Kanyakumari
After breakfast, proceed for an excursion to Kanyakumari, visiting Vivekananda Memorial rock by boat ( on direct payments basis), Gandhi mandapam and temple of Goddess Kanyakumari. In the late afternoon return to Kovalam.
Day 09: Transfer to Trivandrum Airport / Railway Station
Today after an early breakfast, transfer to Trivandrum for the city tour (16kms). Visit the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple (non Hindus are not allowed inside) which dominates Trivandrum. Also visit the Napier Museum and the Srichithra Art Gallery. Thereafter transfer to Airport/station for your onwards journey.
